The course is a comprehensive introduction to migration, refugee and IDPs problems in sub-Saharan Africa. The aim of the course is to understand the dynamics, causes, and effects of migration and displacement in the sub-Saharan Africa. The thematic objectives of this course include characteristics and dynamics of migration in SSA, impacts of climate change, conflict and weak institutions on migration in SSA, migration and development, regional dynamics of migration: West, East&Central Africa, national and regional responses to migration within SSA, the role of EU, and specifics of migration: the role of diaspora, remittances, brain drain and human trafficking.

In the end, students should have a good knowledge and analytical abilities in contextualizing and proffering solutions to sub-Saharan refugee migration problems.
